Blekko – A New Way to Search

November 2, 2010

Have you heard about Blekko? This new search engine has a unique way of allowing you to refine your searches. The site uses what it calls slashtags. So go to their search box http://blekko.com and type in a search term. Then add a slashtag / and a refining term such as “people,” “blogs,” “news,” you will be served up results that correctly match what you are looking for without the normal amounts of unwanted links.

There are many slashtags already set up (go to FIND SLASHTAGS and select the TOPICS tab). You can also sign up and create your own slashtags.

Take the time to watch the demo video if you are unsure how it works, and the TechCrunch Search Engine Review was also helpful.

Let me know what you think – will this replace Google in your life? — Jill
